My my My my
2020 Boys Select (U13/U15)

Hi Sharon/Easton Lax Family!

My name is Brett McCormack, and I am the new head coach for the Easton/Sharon boys Select teams. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and my assistant coaches, and also announce the tryout details for the 2020 Select season.

I assisted in coaching last season with the Sharon U9-U15 boys’ programs and am excited to become the head coach of the Easton/Sharon boys Select U13 & U15 teams! I really enjoyed working with the players and see them develop and steadily improve throughout the season. I look forward to developing the fundamentals and playing together unselfishly, raising the level of play and competing out there as a team.

Lacrosse has always been one of my passions, opening up doors to college and relationships that I cherish. I love growing the game and seeing that “lightbulb” moment shine through.

Helping me this season will be two excellent lacrosse players at both the high school and college level, Pat Shine and Andrew Landsman.  Bios for the three of us are below.

Select team background:

For those of you that are not aware, the Select teams are a way for your child to participate in town lacrosse at a much more competitive level where the goal is to, first, teach the game at a higher level among similarly skilled players and, second, to win.  This is like the “travel” teams in basketball and soccer.  We will have practices one night a week (likely Tuesday) and games on Friday nights.  Easton and Sharon have partnered together for the last number of years to field a very competitive team.  Practices and home games are at Oliver Ames HS.  Indoor practices start in mid-March and games start the first Friday of April.

Tryout info/registration:

We will have our Select tryouts on Monday, 2/24 at ForeKicks in Taunton.  U13 (5th/6th grade) tryout is from 6PM to 7PM and U15 (7th/8th) is from 7PM to 8PM on Field 2.  Please register for the tryout at as soon as possible.  NOTE: Registration on the Sharon LAX website is new this year (previously done on Easton LAX website).  Easton parents will need to create a parent/child account on the Sharon Lacrosse website.  Cost is $10.

But in the meantime, don’t let this be the first time your son picks up a stick. One thing I noticed from last season is that stick skills are something that we can all improve on. Working on passing, catching, shooting, and ground balls prior to tryouts allows us as coaches to focus on offense/defensive plays and concepts that will help us succeed. Playing wall ball, passing and catching with both hands, and putting in work prior to tryouts will elevate our level of play. Below is a simple wallball routine that players should work on:

25 Strong Hand

25 Weak Hand

25 Catch and Switch Hands (protecting the stick on the switch, envision like you are doing a split dodge)

25 Throw and Switch Hands in the air

*Should face wall sideways and focus on getting the top hand over the bottom hand when passing*

If you have any questions, please email me at or Jim Spoto at .

Can’t wait for the season!
